The new Romer Absolute Arm is absolutely advanced. Drawing inspiration and resources from the entire Hexagon Metrology product family, and all ROMER arms that came before, the Romer Absolute Arm has been redesigned to ensure the ultimate user experience. A new ergonomic wrist is the first to be designed around the complex contours of the human hand. Sensory feedback enables users to take measurements in even the most challenging shop environments.

The Romer Absolute Arm is still the easiest and fastest to use in the industry. Intelligent Quick Change Probes require no special tools or recalibration after probe changes. Absolute encoders "know" where the arm is at all times, eliminating the need for complex homing procedures. A thermally stable dual carbon fiber tube construction does not lock up when temperatures change.

The universal scanning solution for all types of parts and applications.

The newly redesigned Romer Absolute Arm 7-Axis "SI" series with integrated laser scanner delivers the convenience of a fully integrated 3D scanning solution for a variety of applications. Use it for feature inspection to CAD, free-form surface inspection to CAD and reverse engineering. The scanner is incorporated into the seventh axis and rotates around the probe for a more natural feel. The SI version of the Absolute Arm is easily converted to an SE version to accept an externally mounted laser scanner.

Since its weight is balanced with ROMER's Zero-G counterbalance, the arm is the easiest and most ergonomic in the industry. The feature pack contains the scanner interface, so no external controller box is required. Single button automatic laser power control allows scanning of different surface types. No warm up time coupled with no homing procedures means an operator can be up and scanning in just minutes.

The Romer Absolute Arm 7-Axis "SE" series is the ultimate modular scanning solution. Its redesigned ergonomic handle is easily converted from an external scanner to an integrated version. Sensory feedback makes it ideal for harsh shop floor conditions while its low-weight, high accuracy features are perfect for reverse engineering applications.

The Absolute Arm seven axis "SE" series allows the connection of the highly accurate HP-L-20.8, an interchangeable high performance external laser scanner. Removing the scanner allows the system to function as a 7 axis "pistol grip" tactile inspection system. The ROMER feature pack capability of the SE series arm means that an external laser scanner can easily be added, changed, or upgraded at any time, for greater convenience plus future proofing.

There’s no need to navigate through menus in order to make your measurement, just touch to begin! PC-DMIS Touch has the power and functionality to make what should be simple… simple.The user is guided through a full set of inspection tools, such as construction of features or feature sets, 2D and 3D dimensional reporting.

Feature Recognition: The operator doesn’t need to define what feature he wants to measure prior to using the arm. PC-DMIS Touch will decide which features are geometrically possible based on the points collected and highlight any possible features from the point set, such as circle and plane. The operator may then choose on the spot the matching feature.

Run measurement routines easily: All arm measurements are recorded so can be run as many times as you like. Also, existing PC-DMIS programs can be run with Touch.

Construction Zone

Feature Construction tasks are completed by a simple, consistent workflow.

PC-DMIS Touch helps the user either select an already measured feature from the list, directly from the graphical representation, measure a new one or any combination depending on the required input.

The 3D View can be panned, rotated and zoomed with just a gesture in a very intuitive fashion so that the programmer or operator can confidently interact with the software.

All Lined Up

PC-DMIS Touch organizes measurement plan features intuitively by “Face,” a new concept for the traditional work-plane.

PC-DMIS Touch also guides the user through automated alignment sequences depending on the available feature types.

For instance, a Plane-Line-Point alignment is completed by either measuring all three features, selecting previously measured features from the list or graphics display, or a combination of both.

As easy as 3-2-1.

Reporting Live

As features are measured the user selects whether or not to display all or part of the corresponding data on the report while at the same time updating feature nominal and tolerance data.

A quick swipe to the right provides instant access to the report with a statistical view of how the measured features are stacking up against their respective tolerance requirements.

Reports are created automatically during the part measurement. If you want to remove something, or change a tolerance, just touch on the desired feature in the list.

All measurement reports are saved separately from the measurements themselves, making archiving them much easier. Any time you need to find a report, just type a part of its name into the live filter.

Absolute Arm 1.2m

The Romer Absolute Arm 1.2m portable coordinate measuring machine (CMM) uses industry-proven technology to provide high-accuracy 3D measurement in a 1.2 m volume. It is ideal for use within confined spaces, including inside a machining center for dimensional control of molds, parts, tooling, castings, and more. The Romer Absolute Arm 1.2m streamlines the measurement process as a viable alternative to a range of manual tools such as height gages, dial calipers, bore gages, gage blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.

To simplify set-ups, a counterweight system enables the Romer Absolute Arm 1.2m to be used without mountings on any surface. Absolute encoders, a standard feature on the Absolute Arm line, eliminate complicated referencing procedures. The operator can start measuring with merely the flip of a switch. Romer Absolute Arm feature packs allow wireless battery-powered operation for maximum portability on the shop-floor, while an integrated camera and worklight facilitate inspections in harsh environments.

A replacement for the ROMER MultiGage, the Romer Absolute Arm 1.2m is available in two models and can be certified to ISO 10360-2 or B89.4.22. Usability features include automatic probe recognition to ensure repeatable results for different probes without calibration and haptic feedback to alert users if an axis limit is reached, eliminating the risk of bad measurements. The Romer Absolute Arm 1.2m is also compatible with PC-DMIS Touch, the revolutionary measurement software that uses high-resolution Multi-Touch display technology on a tablet PC.
